The ban on travel abroad for Australian nationals has been in effect since noon today.

An unprecedented ban was imposed last night, government further restrictions on social activity were announced. Among these measures are restrictions on attendance at funerals and wedding and the closure of private services such as beauty salons.

The health minister, Hunter (Greg Hunt), said action was needed to slow the spread of the new crown virus.

"A ban on the departure of Australians begins at noon today, unless it is necessary or compassionate. "he said.

However, the Australian citizen would be exempt from the ban if it were also a permanent resident of other countries and regions. Necessary travel based on national interests, humanitarian or compassionate grounds will also be excluded. This means that some flights will continue to operate.

Eligibility for travel abroad will be determined by the Australian Border Service (Australian Border Force).

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) had upgraded the recommended level of travel abroad to the highest level of level 4, i.e. do not travel overseas. The new travel measures enacted last night made it a mandatory ban.

Prime Minister Morrison (Scott Morrison) announced the ban late last night :" The number of people leave Australia is very, very small. But these (leaving Australia) figures shocked me that someone was violating the advice and wanted to go abroad for leisure travel. "

"They can`t because they put Australians at risk when they return home. "No one should board a plane and go overseas ," Morrison warned. We have been making this clear for some time. "

Asked if the BBS is currently conducting proper checks to contain the new crown virus coming from Australia, Morrison said the inbound staff were properly managed but would invest more resources. He stressed :" All arrivals are subject to self-segregation in accordance with public health requirements at the state level. "
